GIAA Coaching Requirements

Georgia Independent Athletic Association standards

Annual Safety Trainings:

Concussion Training - Recognition and proper management

Heat Illness Prevention - Georgia-specific heat protocols

Cardiac Arrest Awareness - Early detection and response

Valid Certifications Required:

CPR Certification - Current and up-to-date

First Aid Certification - Basic emergency care

AED Training - Automated external defibrillator use

School Policy Requirements:

- Acknowledgment of school handbooks and policies

- Understanding of athletic department procedures

- Communication and conduct guidelines

For Varsity Coaches:

- Pass GIAA Rules Test for their sport, OR

- Attend required GIAA sport-specific clinics
